Properly installing the interior E-ZPass transponder in your vehicle is easy and essential.
- Clean and dry the inside of your windshield around the rear view mirror.
- Without removing the mounting strips from the transponder, remove the tape backing from the mounting strips.
- Turn the transponder label right side up facing you. Adhere the transponder inside your car to the upper center portion of your windshield, behind the rear view mirror at least one inch to the right of the center support of the mirror and at least one inch below the top edge of the windshield, or below the tinted section of the glass.

Yes, you may transfer a transponder between vehicles as long as they are of the same vehicle class. There are penalties for using a transponder in a different vehicle class (i.e. Car transponder in a tractor- trailer.) Please be sure that all vehicles using the transponder are listed on your EZ Pass account. You may register your additional vehicles on-line or by calling our call center at 877-743-9727.

If your transponder is lost or stolen, report it immediately by logging in to this website, visiting the Customer Service Center, or calling 1-877-RIEZPAS (1-877-743-9727). The transponder will be deactivated. You will not be responsible for any charges incurred after you report a lost or stolen transponder. You will be liable for toll charges incurred prior to notification. You will be responsible for paying the full cost of the transponder, $20.95 for an interior transponder or $33.04 for an exterior transponder. Upon request, a new transponder will be issued to you. If you are still concerned about safeguarding your transponder, you may wish to take the E-ZPass transponder with you when it is not in use. The self-adhesive strips allow for easy removal and installation.

Yes. You should not use your E-ZPass transponder:
- If you reported your transponder lost or stolen but later find it.
- If you have an insufficient toll balance in your account.
- If you use a different type of vehicle than noted on your account and you have not advised the Customer Service Center of the vehicle change.
At these times, it is wisest to use the silver “read prevention” bag provided with the transponder to prevent possible usage violations and potential associated fees.
